It’s time for the Fall 2024 Rope & Speed Championship!

Details

This event will be a rotational redpoint rope session along with an optional speed climbing opportunity. In this format, each category will have 2 routes, and athletes will have one attempt on each route with ample rest in between. Climbers will be provided videos of their routes being climbed and are able to watch each other climb.

Please note that all Category 5 athletes will compete on one top rope and one lead route. Athletes must be Lead Certified by Movement before the event date to compete on both routes. Categories 1-4 will have top rope routes only.

As climbing wraps up around 12:30pm, we'll begin our newest tradition- an outdoor end-of-season party! You can expect classic backyard games, opportunities to win mini-game prizes, a temporary tattoo station, pizza, sweets, and... a BOUNCE HOUSE! All championship competitors, their families, and our amazing volunteers are welcome to join in the festivities. We'll wrap up the event with individual awards and announce the long-awaited team championships to close out the season!

Invitations have been shared via email to all who competed in two or more events over the season. Click here to verify your invitation. If you are not on this list and believe you have qualified, please reach out.

Didn’t make the championship but still want to be part of the excitement? Volunteer for the day to join in! Volunteers will be asked to attend a meeting at 7:30am to provided necessary training, along with breakfast treats! For this event, competitors will have set start and end times for their climbing, allowing us to relieve you to watch your athlete during their entire time on the wall.

VOLUNTEER

You may not know this but all climbing comps are primarily run by volunteers. As such, we need YOU to volunteer!

Here are some things to consider:

  • The comp can't happen without volunteers. In fact, if there are not sufficient volunteers then the comp end time could be extended and/or the number of routes may be reduced to get all athletes through.

  • We will try to accommodate when your kids climb to the extent possible. Just indicate your athlete's category and climb time.

  • Don't worry if you've never done it, we will train you!

  • Spectator areas are limited. The best way to ensure you are able to watch your athlete is to volunteer.

  • For those interested in volunteer belaying, you must complete belay certification previous to the competition day.
